For many people, the ultimate goal of coming to New Zealand is to gain residency. At present, due to Covid-19, the New Zealand border is closed to all offshore visa applications with only a few exemptions. Besides, the selections for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) has been suspended until further notice. The Government has also announced that the SMC program will be reviewed. However, there is no updates on when EOI will be resumed, nor when the review will be completed.
